The Power of Mindset Shifts for Wellness

The Power of Mindset Shifts for Wellness

The biggest obstacle that most have to overcome when wanting to make positive lifestyle changes, is overcoming our own mindset and thoughts. We tell ourselves stories to why we can’t do something. Like, “I’m too tired to work out because I work full-time,” or “I injured my knee in high school, so I can’t push myself…” Creating a healthier life, especially with committing to a regular fitness routine, starts with shifting your old way of thinking, to having more empowering conversations with yourself, that lead to small, but impactful, changes every day.

Here are 3 common mindset shifts that can assist you on your fitness journey:

Old way of thinking:

I’m too busy with my job and taking care of my family to exercise.

Empowered thinking:

I can perform my best at work, be more emotionally present, as well as more energetic with my kids, if I work out several days per week. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, I love myself and my family enough to move my body.

Old way of thinking:

I don’t have enough money to waste on a gym membership.

Empowered thinking:

I can’t afford not to work out. Working out keeps me healthy so I don’t miss work, and so I don’t have to go to the doctor or hospital as much… It’s an investment in my health. If I can’t afford a gym, I can work out for free at home! There’s always a way!

 Old way of thinking:

I have too many injuries to push myself.

Empowered thinking:

There are always modifications that I can make to any exercise! If I can’t handle an exercise with a weight, I will just do a body-weight exercise… sitting or lying down if I have to!!! I value my health enough to find ways to make this work!

If you find yourself speaking negatively to yourself about fitness or your overall health, recognize it, and flip the script! Love yourself enough to remind yourself that there is always a way! You can do this!!!
